What Is The Oil Cleansing Method?

This method uses natural oils to cleanse the skin, remove makeup, and unclog pores. The oil cleansing method is based off of the practice that “like dissolves  like”. Meaning oil can actually help dissolve oil effectively without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Unlike most traditional cleansers that strip your skin and leave it feeling dry. This may sound like a foreign concept to some but don’t knock until you try it. We promise, you will be amazed by the oil cleansing method and what it can do for your skin. Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, excess oil, or sensitive skin this method is for everyone. It’s all about the type of oils used and the ratios, we’ll get more into this below.

How Does Oil Cleansing Help with Acne?

Unclogs Pores: The oil cleansing method penetrate deeply into the pores, removing makeup, sunscreen, and impurities that a water-based cleanser might leave behind. This thorough cleansing can help prevent clogged pores and reduce the occurrence of acne. It’s imperative to use types of oils that won’t clog your pores like our Ozonated Cleansing Oil. Formulated with oil that has been ozonated to provide concentrated oxygen to your skin. Also paired with non-comdegenic oils that won’t clog your pores.

Oil dissolves oil: Based off of the principle that “like dissolves like”. Oil cleansing can help dissolve excess oil on the skin that leads to acne. This helps prevent pores from being clogged and reduces breakouts. Keep in mind, not all oils are the same. It is imperative to use the right oil cleanser that won’t contain pore clogging ingredients such as coconut oil or olive oil leading to skin irritation. We find oils like jojoba oil, pomegranate seed oil, castor oil, & hemp seed oil are fantastic for keeping pores health and happy. All found in our ozonated cleansing oil here.

Gentle but not stripping: When oil cleansing, you are deeply & gently cleansing your skin. The oil-cleansing method also lightly exfoliates the top layer getting dead skin cells off. This in turn helps provide a smoother & cleaner complexion. Oil-based cleansers will not strip your skin but instead will preserve the good oils. Cleansing oils are gentle and help maintain the skin’s natural moisture balance.

What Are The Benefits Of Oil Cleansing?

Hydrating: Many oils used in the oil cleansing method are rich in fatty acids and antioxidants, which help to hydrate and nourish the skin, leaving it soft and supple.

Balancing: Contrary to the common belief that oil leads to breakouts, the oil cleansing method can help balance the skin’s natural oil production, potentially reducing excess oiliness and breakouts over time. This leads to a brighter & more even skin tone.

Anti-inflammatory: Our cleansing oil formula contains ingredients with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, such as ozonated jojoba oil, sea buckthorn seed oil, organic hemp seed oil, organic castor oil, & pomegranate seed oil. These ingredients can soothe inflamed skin and reduce redness and irritation associated with acne. Not to mention there are no harsh chemicals that can lead to possible irritation that many face during acne breakouts.

How To Choose The Right Cleansing Oil

As mentioned above, you want to stay away from different types of oil that can lead to clogged pores. When our pores get clogged from problematic oils, it not only leads to acne but also an uneven skin tone. Finding the right cleanser with beneficial oils is key to healthy & radiant skin. Many find that oil cleansing is not only beneficial for acne but for many skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, & sensitive skin.

It’s also extremely important to read all ingredients. Many company’s will add fragrance or unnecessary preservatives that can lead to irritation. At Faithful Family Farmer we always encourage you to read every ingredient and be aware of harmful chemicals. You deserve to know what’s being put on your skin because your health matters. Everything that goes on the skin, goes directly into the bloodstream.

How To Oil Cleanse

  1. Start with dry or damp skin: Apply the cleansing oil to dry skin. Use about a quarter-sized amount in your palm.
  2. Massage gently: Gently massage the oil into your skin using circular motions. Focus on areas prone to blackheads and breakouts. This step should take about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Steam and Wipe: Place a warm, damp washcloth over your face for about 30 seconds to open up the pores. Then, use the washcloth to wipe away the oil and impurities. (optional but recommended)
  4. Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse your face with lukewarm water. You can follow up with a gentle water-based cleanser (a process known as double cleansing) to ensure all residue is removed. Many find repeating steps 1-3 works as double cleansing instead of incorporating a second water based cleanser in. Especially if you have dry or sensitive skin.
  5. Moisturize: Pat your skin so it’s damp and almost dry. Apply your favorite serum or moisturizer to lock in hydration to damp skin.

The oil cleansing method can be a beneficial addition to your skincare routine, even if you have acne-prone skin. By choosing the right formula and following a consistent skin care routine, you can achieve a clearer, more balanced complexion. Embrace the power of oil cleansing and say goodbye to pesky breakouts!
